4. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. These are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when you visit our site. Cookies do not harm your device, do not contain viruses, Trojans, or other malware.

The cookies store information related to the specific device used. However, this does not mean we gain direct knowledge of your identity.

The use of cookies serves to make the use of our services more pleasant for you. For instance, we use session cookies to recognize that you have visited individual pages of our website. These are automatically deleted after you leave our site.

Furthermore, we use temporary cookies saved on your device for a specified period to enhance user-friendliness. Cookies also help us to statistically record and evaluate the use of our website for the purpose of optimizing our offer for you (see Section 5). The data processed by cookies are necessary to protect our legitimate interests and those of third parties according to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Most browsers accept cookies automatically. However, you can configure your browser to not save cookies on your computer or to always notify you before a new cookie is created. Deactivating cookies may mean you cannot enjoy the full functionality of our website.

5. Analysis Tools

a) Tracking Tools

The tracking measures we use are based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We use these tools to ensure a needs-based design and the continuous optimization of our website. We also use tracking measures to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimizing our offer for you. These interests are regarded as legitimate within the meaning of the aforementioned Article.

i) Google Analytics

For demand-oriented design and continuous optimization of our pages, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. Pseudonymized user profiles are created and cookies are used. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website includes:

  • Browser type/version,

  • The operating system used,

  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page),

  • The hostname of the accessing computer (IP address),

  • Time of server request.

This information is transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity for website operators, and to provide other services related to website and Internet usage. This information may also be transferred to third parties if required by law or if third parties process the data on behalf of Google. Your IP address will not be merged with other Google data. The IP addresses are anonymized, so that an assignment is not possible (IP masking).

You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we note that in this case, you may not be able to fully utilize all the functions of this website. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

As an alternative to the browser plugin or within browsers on mobile devices, click this link to prevent the collection by Google Analytics within this website in the future (the opt-out only works in the browser and only for this domain). An opt-out cookie will be stored on your device. If you delete your cookies in this browser, you must click this link again.

For more information about privacy related to Google Analytics, see the Google Analytics Help Center (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en).

ii) Google Adwords Conversion Tracking

We also use Google Conversion Tracking to statistically record the use of our website and to optimize it for you. Google Adwords places a cookie on your computer if you reach our website via a Google advertisement.

These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of the Adwords customer's website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the customer can tell that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.

Each Adwords customer receives a different cookie. Thus, cookies cannot be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for Adwords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page equipped with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive information that personally identifies users.

If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can opt out of this use by easily disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie via your Internet browser under user settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics. For more information about Google’s privacy policy, visit the following website: https://services.google.com/sitestats/en.html.

6. Social Media Plug-ins

We use social plugins of the social networks Facebook, and Instagram on our website based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR to promote our company. The underlying commercial purpose is considered a legitimate interest within the meaning of the GDPR. The responsibility for operations compliant with data protection regulations is to be ensured by their respective providers. We integrate these plugins by the two-click method to protect visitors of our website as best as possible.

a) Facebook

Our website incorporates social media plugins from Facebook to make their use more personal. Hereby we use the "LIKE" or "SHARE" button. This is an offer from Facebook.

When you access a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection with Facebook servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted from Facebook directly to your browser and integrated into the website by it.

By integrating the plugins, Facebook receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have a Facebook account or are not logged into Facebook at the time. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted from your browser directly to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged into Facebook, Facebook can directly assign the visit to our website to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins, for example, by clicking the "LIKE" or "SHARE" button, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The information is also published on Facebook and displayed to your Facebook friends.

Facebook may use this information for the purpose of advertising, market research, and tailor-made Facebook pages. For this purpose, Facebook creates usage, interest, and relationship profiles, e.g., to evaluate your use of our website concerning the advertisements displayed to you on Facebook, to inform other Facebook users about your activities on our website, and to provide further related services.

If you do not want Facebook to associate the information collected through our website with your Facebook account, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website.

For more information about the collection and use of data by Facebook, about your rights in this regard, and ways to protect your privacy, please refer to Facebook's privacy policy at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

c) Instagram

Our website also uses social plugins ("plugins") of the Instagram online service, which is operated by Instagram LLC, located at 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA, 94025, USA ("Instagram").

The plugins are marked with an Instagram logo, for example, in the form of an "Instagram camera".

When you access a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Instagram's servers. The content of the plugin is sent directly to your browser by Instagram and integrated into the page. Through this integration, Instagram receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are currently not logged in to Instagram.

This information (including your IP address) is sent from your browser directly to an Instagram server in the USA and stored there. If you are logged into Instagram, Instagram can immediately assign the visits to our website to your Instagram account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the "Instagram" button, this information is also sent directly to an Instagram server and stored there.

The information may also be published on your Instagram account and shown to your contacts.

If you do not want Instagram to directly link the data collected via our website to your Instagram account, you must log out of Instagram before visiting our website.

If your browser does not support 256-bit encryption, we revert to 128-bit v3 technology instead. You can tell that a single page of our website is encrypted by the closed representation of the key or lock icon in the lower status bar of your browser.

We also use suitable technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction, or against unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological development.
